Below, I’m going to share a step-by-step process for making a woven ribbon birthday card.

How to Make:

Step 1:

By using a ruler, start to draw a square on the opposite of your card blank. It should be at least 1.5 cm from both sides and the bottommost edge. You should cut out this wisely with a knife for creating a window.

About 1cm above the gap, in middle, cut two 1cm vertical lines next to each other for feeding your ribbon bow over. Now, cut a portion of the card that is about 1cm bigger than the window on each edge. And you will get the base of your woven ribbons.

Step 2:

In this step, cut at least 20 pieces of ribbons in dissimilar colors. The length of ribbons should be the same but the width can be the same or vary. Make sure, ribbons should be a little longer than your base card.

Step 3:

Now, start to line up the ribbons from the bottom right to the top on the left-hand side of the base. You can use glue for fixing them on the left-hand side of the base.

Step 4:

For weaving the ribbons together, you should place one ribbon on the top edge, at the left. Secure it similarly as before. And then weave the ribbon over and under all of the horizontal ribbons until you reach the bottom.

Crease the ribbon over the edge to the back and secure it with tape. Place alternative vertical ribbon next to the first and secure with tape as before. This time you should weave under the different ribbons, so below and then over and fix at the end. Repeat the process until you've occupied the entire space.

Step 5:

After that, tape the remaining ribbons' ends on the bottom. And now you can see, you will have a lovely woven section to use in your card. Strand a ribbon over the two cuts so that the ends are at the front of the birthday card to tie into a bow far ahead.

By following the above-mentioned steps, you can make a beautiful woven ribbon birthday card. You can find an online craft store for purchasing fabrics, ribbons, deco mesh, rhinestones, and many others at economical prices.
